      ALL SAINTS AND SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM

      Ancient God, we remember those who have gone before us,

     who were transformed by your power.

      Your Spirit gave wisdom to the humble, eloquence to the halting of speech,

      courage to the fearful, bright hope to those in prisons.   (John Moses)

LIGHTING the CHRIST CANDLE

CALL TO WORSHIP:

One:       Children of God, we come in person or in Spirit here

               as family, as friends.

All:        “I call you ‘friend’,” says Jesus;

                and his words make all the difference to every one who hears.

One:       “Be friends to each other.”

                It’s something certainly that Jesus says.

All:         “Be friends to the world.”

One:       “See my face in everyone you meet.”

All:         Christ calls us to be family  -

               to be one with one another in the world;

One:       so we worship as one family in God.

HYMN #705 For All the Saints, verses 1, 2 and 3

OPENING PRAYER:

Loving God, we come to you this morning as we are:

as family and friends; as fellow beings, weak and

strong; all of us as daughters and as sons; some of

us as parents  -  long-time and brand new; all of us

with hopes and dreams and memories of gladness

and of sorrow and misgiving.  And in your love, you

welcome and embrace and lift us up, and redeem us

for the days to come  -  together and with you.  Help

us know your loving presence with us now and

always, every moment, every day, and take us with you into

life made whole and worthy.  This we pray in Jesus’ name.  Amen.
