THANKSGIVING SUNDAY
PRELUDE
WELCOME and ANNOUNCEMENTS
CALL TO WORSHIP:
(after Richard Bott, Dunbar Heights United, Vancouver)
Thanksgiving.
It’s not just a moment, or a day.
Thanksgiving!
Is an action, to be lived always,
and to be lived all ways.
Thanksgiving!
Is an attitude, a way of life.
Today, we enter this sacred space giving thanks:
to one another, to all Creation,
and to the Creator of All!
Together, one in Spirit, and with deep thanksgiving,
we worship God!
HYMN #516 Come, You Thankful People, verses 1, 2 & 4
OPENING PRAYER and THE LORD’S PRAYER:
(after Richard Bott, Dunbar Heights United, Vancouver)
From our hearts, with our hands, through our voices, in our love, we thank you, God! For every sunrise and sunset, for every smile and tear, for every moment that has passed, and for every moment yet to come, knowing you are with us every moment. We pray that our thanksgiving can make all the difference in the world, for Jesus’ sake, we pray in Jesus’ name, who taught us, when we pray, to say:
Our father, who art in heaven ..

BIBLE READINGS
Prayer for Illumination:
Gracious Holy Spirit, soul and source of all our hope and prayer and giving thanks: touch in us that deep response to what we hear, and guide us in the ways of purpose and a thankful heart. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
First Reading: Deuteronomy 8:7-18 (NRSV)
A plea to not forget God
Responsive Reading: Psalm 65 (Voices United)
God provides, the valleys sing
Praise is due to you, O God, in Zion;
to you shall vows be performed.
You give heed to prayer; to you all mortals shall come.
The burden of our sins is too great for us,
but you will purge them away.
Blessed are the people you choose
and bring to dwell in your courts.
We shall be filled with the blessings of your house,
your holy temple.
With awesome deeds you answer our prayers for deliverance,
O God our saviour -
you that are the hope of all the ends of the earth
and of the far-off seas.
By your strength you make fast the mountains,
and gird yourself round with power.
You still the raging of the seas,
and the roaring of the waves, the tumult of the peoples.
Those who dwell at earth's farthest bounds
are awed by your wonders;
the gateways of both morning and evening shout for joy.
You visit the earth and water it,
you make it very fruitful.
The waters of heaven brim over their banks,
providing us with grain,
for so you have prepared the land,
drenching its furrows, settling its ridges,
softening it with showers, and blessing its growth.
You crown the year with goodness,
and your paths overflow with plenty.
The pastures of the wilderness abound with grass,
and the hills are girded with joy.
The fields are clothed with sheep;
the valleys are decked with wheat,
so that they shout and sing for joy.
Sung Response: #221, verse 1
Sing praise to God, who has shaped
and sustains all Creation!
Sing praise, my soul, in profound and
complete adoration!
Gladsome rejoice -
organ and trumpet and voice -
joining God's great congregation.
Gospel Reading: Luke 17:11-19 (NIV)

HYMN MV#27 Creator God You Gave Us Life
Creator God you gave us life,
your image formed within our souls,
yet through the mist of time and space,
we search for that which makes us whole.
Refrain:
Through hands that paint majestic skies,
and voices chanting melody,
with words that reach beyond the page,
we comprehend your mystery.
In every flower and every tree,
we see your great diversity,
yet greater still we see your love,
expressed in our humanity.
When with our hearts, our hands, our minds,
we share our gifts with all the world,
our spirits soar beyond the veil,
to touch the very face of God.
