HYMN #232 Joyful, Joyful We Adore You
OPENING PRAYER and THE LORD’S PRAYER:
(after Sheryl McLeod, Admaston United, Renfrew, Ont.)
Longer days are shortening, calling us to pay attention. Crops are ripened,
calling us to gather. Families are preparing, calling us to a new season.
As we notice Creation’s changes, we gather ever mindful that you, O God,
call us into community, and prepare us for your mission. We gather as
faithful followers, hungry for your presence, and we pray in worship
we be fed. This we pray in Jesus’ name, who taught us, when we pray,
to say: Our Father, who art in heaven ..

Gracious Holy Spirit, be close to us, we pray, and guide us in your wisdom
and your insight, that we might rightly hear the Gospel promise that gives

Exodus 15: 1b-11, 20-21. (Voices United)
Song of the Sea
I will sing to God, who has triumphed gloriously.
Horse and rider are thrown into the sea.
God is my strength, my song, my salvation.
This is my God, whom I will praise,
our parents' God, whom I will exalt.
God is a warrior: Eternal is God's name.
Pharaoh's chariots and his army are cast into the sea;
his chosen officers are sunk in the Red Sea.
The floods covered them;
they went down into the depths like a stone,
your right hand, O God, glorious in power,
your right hand, shattered the enemy.
In your great majesty you overthrew your foes;
you sent out your fury
and consumed them like stubble.
At the blast of your nostrils the waters piled up.
The floods stood up in a heap;
the deeps congealed in the heart of the sea.
The enemy said, 'I will pursue, I will overtake,
I will divide the spoil, my desire shall have its fill of them.
I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.'
You blew with your wind, the sea covered them;
they sank like lead in the mighty waters.
Who is like you, O God, among the gods? Who is like you,
majestic in holiness, awesome in splendour,
wonderful in action?
Then Miriam, the prophetess, the sister of Aaron,
took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her
with timbrels and dancing. And Miriam sang to them:
“Sing to the Lord, for the Lord has triumphed gloriously;
horse and rider have been thrown into the sea.”
Sung Response: VU#312, verse 1
Praise with joy the world's Creator,
God of justice, love, and peace,
source and end of human knowledge,
God whose grace shall never cease.
Celebrate the Maker's glory,
power to rescue and release.
